Remembering Jon Postel
If you've ever sent an email Jon Postel is one of the people you should thank for this staple of modern business communications. In 1980 he co-authored RFC 772 which proposed the Mail Transfer Protocol. However, that's not all we should thank him for.
Jon was a prolific contributor to many internet technologies in his own right, the Editor of the RFC document series and the director of IANA. It's exhausting looking at his contribution even though his life was cut short at 55.
It seems only fitting that we remember Jon on what would've been his birthday.
