As computer networks grew so did network loops which are, in packets and frames, the equivalent of the unbearable audio feedback when a microphone comes too close to a speaker. The result is just as painful.
Working for DEC, Radia invented the spanning tree protocol to identify these loops and prevent the destructive feedback. This made expanding networks using bridges easier and more robust.
Radia also contributed a huge amount to children's computer education.
