Apprenticeships

I am a massive fan of apprenticeships. I completed a Rolls-Royce undergraduate scheme between 1982 and 1987 and it taught me a huge amount. It changed me from a student to an employee. Some things I learned:

* Teamwork is key
* You have to shovel some sh*t before you get the champagne
* Communication skills are more valuable than pure intelligence
* Arrogance is the worst blinker you can wear
* Poor management kills everything
* With the right environment even challenged people can do amazing things
* How to wire a 13amp plug to Rolls-Royce standards (don't ask!)
